Generational Differences in the Workplace

Dr. Carolyn Seaton started her current position as Superintendent of Schools for the Orinda Union School District in May of 2016. She began her career in public education in the Highland Park Independent School District in Dallas, Texas, in 1984 where she served as a fifth-grade teacher, an elementary science specialist, and a middle school gifted programs specialist. In 1997, Dr. Seaton was hired as a middle school math, science, and English teacher by the Manhattan Beach Unified School District. Soon thereafter, she began her administrative career as a middle school Assistant Principal and later Principal. Dr. Seaton’s previous district office leadership experience includes nine years as Executive Director of Educational Services and two years as Executive Director of Human Resources.

 

Dr. Seaton received her B.A. in History from Southern Methodist University where she was also named a member of the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa honor society. She earned her M.Ed. from the University of North Texas, and her Ed.D. in K-12 Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California. Dr. Seaton and her husband, David, reside in Walnut Creek. They have one grown son who is a high school social studies teacher in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
