Save Mount Diablo
Save Mount Diablo is an accredited non-profit land trust that was founded in 1971 with the mission to protect ecologically and culturally important land on and around Mount Diablo from development. This mission is achieved through a conservation approach that integrates perpetual land preservation, advocacy, stewardship, land use planning, and education programs.
Denise Castro is Save Mount Diablo’s Education & Outreach Associate. Her work mainly revolves around connecting people to nature through education and outdoor experiences. She helps coordinate a series of programs at Save Mount Diablo, including the Conservation Collaboration Agreement that encourages outdoor learning for schools, the free Discover Diablo hike/bike/climb program, volunteer restoration programs, and the Dr. Mary Bowerman Science & Research program.
Denise received her B.S. from UC Davis in Environmental Horticulture & Urban Forestry with an emphasis in Ecological Restoration and Biodiversity.
