One City/One Book

Catherine Brown is a longtime education leader in Dublin with a passion for offering her students creative and forward-thinking opportunities to become lifelong learners. Named Dublin's Teacher of the Year in 2018, Catherine has been in the classroom inspiring students since 1982. She has been a first-grade teacher at Frederiksen Elementary for 15 years, and has received numerous accolades for her work as the founder and coordinator of the Veterans' Day event at Frederiksen, which has become a community staple.

In addition, she received Dublin Unified's Volunteer Recognition Award when she served as a parent-leader during her daughters' time as students in Dublin Schools and served in a leadership role in multiple Parent-Faculty Clubs at all levels of education.

Beyond her significant work in our Dublin Schools, Catherine, who has lived in Dublin for 25 years, is a committed community servant. She has volunteered through the years to support Dublin Partners in Education, Relay for Life, numerous local bond and parcel tax campaigns and is a longtime program director with Girl Scouts. She is the first person to say yes to almost any opportunity to make her community a better place.
