National Coalition Against Prescription Drug Abuse (NCAPDA)

Since her founding of the National Coalition Against Prescription Drug Abuse (NCAPDA) in 2010, April has worked to prevent prescription drug related substance use disorder (SUD) and overdose deaths through community education, policy change and legislation advocacy.  She also leads the coalition’s harm reduction efforts that include the distribution of free fentanyl and xylazine test strips as well as Narcan overdose rescue kits.     

In addition to her work with NCAPDA, April is an active member of several other drug prevention coalitions and is a member of multiple advisory boards of agencies working to prevent substance abuse and overdose.   April has received numerous recognitions for her work including those from the American Red Cross, California Society of Addiction Medicine, California Narcotic Officers Association, the Contra Costa Office Of Education, the San Ramon Chamber of Commerce, the Rx and Illicit Drug Summit, and SEWA International.
